Reminder to all Freshmen... your sophomore course request sheet needs to be turned in to the curriculum office or your counselor by Friday March 27th.

All Credit By Choice grades must be received in the Registrar’s office by May 1, 2015 to be added to graduate semester credits. Grades must be sent directly from the Institution giving the grade by fax to 907-742-6259 and an official copy mailed. No copies directly from students are accepted. No exceptions! Any questions, contact Wendy Pondolfino, Curriculum Principal.


Any student interested in attending the ASD's Construction Career Day should sign up in the curriculum office ASAP. The event is at the Palmer Fairgrounds on April 22nd. This is a full day event with bus transportation and lunches provided.

Student Government Elections will take place on April 10th. In order to start campaigning you must have a packet turned in by April 2nd to room C-114--no late packets will be accepted. Packets are available now in room C-114, and all are encouraged to run for office for the 2015-1016 school year!




A representative from Northern Arizona University will be here Monday, March 30th in the commons at lunch. Stop by, say "hi", and learn about NAU.

Anchorage Woman's Club will award several scholarships to high school seniors this year. If you are enrolling in college this fall and are of high moral character, this could be the scholarship for you. Four Valleys Community School and the Girdwood Turnagain Arm Lions Club sponser a scholarship program to recognize graduating seniors in the Four Valleys area (Girdwood, Bird, Indian, and Portage) for their community service. For 2015, two scholarships will be available in the amount of $750.00 each. See the Curriculum Office for an application for either of these opportunities. 

We are looking for a few good artist to submit artwork for the cover of the graduation program. If you would like to see examples of past covers or have any questions, please see Ms. Frankenburger in the library. Submissions are due to Ms. Frankenburger by Monday, April 13th.

Applications are Now Available for Senator Murkowski's 2015 High School Internship Program - see your counselor. The deadline is March 12th.

Do you enjoy being in the spotlight or dream of singing in front of a large audience? Would you like to perform at graduation by singer the National Anthem or another song? If so, auditions for graduation singers will be held on April 7th at 2:15 in the choir room, C202. Please sign up in the library with Ms. Frankenburger. If you have any questions concerning auditioning, please see Ms. Nelson in C202.




On Saturday, March 21 UAA held the 6th Annual Northern Lights British Parliamentary Debate Tournament for high school students. The tournament is open to any high school student in Alaska and is designed to promote academically rigorous exploration of controversial issues in a socially cooperative and competitive environment. High school students competed in the World Universities Debating style of debate which is the most commonly debate format used in colleges today around the world. The six topic areas for 2015 included ISIS, Prescription Drugs for Cognitive Enhancement, Workforce Automation, Vaccine Exemptions, and Arctic Ownership. Finalists: 7 of the 8 finalists were from South Skyler Hektner & Terek Rutherford (1st Place -- third year in a row; Skyler Top Speaker, Terek Second Speaker) Shruti Vadapalli & Tyanna Baker (2nd Place) Kari Jahnsen & Dakota Jones (3rd Place); Kari was also third speaker Quin Fitzpatrick (from South) & Conner Van Allstine (from Dimond) 4th Place.
